SUPPORTING LOCAL INITIATIVES
HISTORIC RENOVATIONS
“There may have been a time when preservation was about saving an old building here or there, but those days are gone. Preservation is in the business of saving communities and the values they embody” – Richard Moe
Our commitment at ZRE is to create sustainable communities that impeccably fuse innovation with heritage, to ultimately enhance the social fabric of society. When building the masterplan of BDD, our challenge was to match our ambitions with the existent architecture, without disrupting it in order to preserve existent heritage. And so, the BDD community is home to three buildings whose facades have been retained, whilst the interiors have been fitted with state-of-the-art modern technological solutions.
EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURES
BACHOURA PUBLIC SCHOOL
Communities can only thrive if they are sustainable. And so, as part of our pledge to give back to the surrounding neighborhoods in which we build, we contribute to the economic, social and environmental framework of society.
Seeing that education is the foundation where brilliance can take off from, ZRE constructed a 7,500 sqm public school in 2010 which since then, hosts 1,500 students yearly. The school was donated to the Ministry of Education in an effort to improve the educational environment for children in the surrounding areas. ZRE’s initiative focuses on empowering the future generations with the right skills so that they are ready to shape the future and improve the social wellbeing.
